Lisa and JetThe Story
Lisa is a smart looking twelve year old who possesses a heart of gold. She lives with her Grandmother, "Nana" in a large, old Victorian (Painted Lady) styled house. Lisa is very dedicated to "doing the right thing" and often takes her time to consider all her options before making a decision. She learns lessons well, and often reflects on them once learned. This comes in handy since there are many lessons learned from making bad decisions thanks to her cat Jet. Jet is black and white patched male cat that has a passion for taking bold steps and seeking adventure. He hates when Lisa takes her time to think about their next move, he wants to, as the saying goes, "just do it". With his prodding, he often leads Lisa and himself down the wrong path. Denying the whole time he ever did anything wrong, Jet always turns the responsibility of leadership over to Lisa when they find themselves in hot water. Lisa also has an eight-year-old brother named Rutger. Rutger likes to have fun, so much so he often doesn't pay attention to his surroundings and his own safety. Rutger loves his sister very much and often depends on her for protection and advice on things he doesn't understand. The dynamics of this duo opens the door to endless learning opportunities as they confront and resolve the various challenges they encounter. These may as simple as taking a safe ride in car to more complicated story lines such as appropriate touch. Children will be able to easily identify with Lisa, as her personality is believable and her goals are obtainable. Jet represents temptation and bad decision-making which kids are often faced with. Nana and Rutger will be reserved as neutral characters that may be used where the story or game requires. She represents traditional values and real alternatives to problems, where Rutger is naive but is always a willing learner. The Creation The concept was created by Tony Comegys for Dunebrook as a focal point for kids and a way to better reach the public. The original artwork was done by John Lucas and transferred to digital images using Photoshop 5.0. The animated images were designed in Flash and imported into Dreamweaver, the HTML editor. Story lines and game ideas were developed as a team effort between the artist, web designer, and Dunebrook.
